Lock bumping, snapping or manipulating the cylinder are the technical terms given to a not very technical process, simplistically it means someone who wants to gain access to your property uses “brute force” to break your cylinder lock. A cylinder lock more commonly called a euro cylinder lock within the industry, is the style of lock where the keying point is exactly as it suggests an independent cylinder detached from any other part of a multi point locking system.
Door-stop have all but eradicated this problem with the introduction of their ERA Vectis cylinder free lock where the key’s modern mortice mechanism engages directly with the multi-point lock, therefore there is s no need for a euro cylinder, which means there is nothing for the prospective burglar to force reducing the possibilities of unwanted access.
The ERA Vectis differs from other locks in that it includes a patented interface between the mortice and the multipoint lock, a hardened steel anti-drill plate and a configuration of two opposing hook-locks, which make bumping, snapping or manipulating your lock a thing of the past.
