Since the introduction of the Door Energy Rating scheme (DER) in 2011 some of the most frequently asked questions revolve around the issue of the benefits of these ratings. The advice we give is always the same, in so much as The British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) are the premier authority on testing glazing and ensure the highest standards are adhered to.
If the BRFC give a door a “C” rating, it has been calculated expertly, which invariably leads to the next question, does such a thing as an “A” rating exist.
At the current time Comparison Door Prices are aware that a number of suppliers have made claims that their doors have achieved this status but not all have fulfilled the calculation methods of the BFRC in order to achieve an “A” energy rated door. Our supplier Door-stop, who not only supplied the first ever energy rated door they also supplied the first ‘A’ energy rated door. The energy rating of every Door-stop door style is calculated for each door configuration therefore the U value certificate is attributable to the door purchased rather than a generic sample of specific supplier’s doors.
With our customer’s becoming more aware of the energy rating’s available on door sets, it’s quickly becoming one of the first checks our customer does when specifying a door. If you’d like a quote on an A rated door, just get in touch.
