Will a new Composite Door increase the value of my property?

When it comes to selling your property, there is endless guidance in the media as to what you can do to enhance the value and make it more saleable the advice covers everything from tidying the garden, redecorating and even extending to filling your home with the aroma of coffee and freshly baked bread. There is little doubt that under most circumstances a newly decorated property holds more attraction to a prospective purchaser than one which is a bit tired and worn – provided of course the decoration is well done and sympathetic to the style of the property. We all have had that experience of walking into someone’s home and being less than inspired by the décor – one of the worst in the writer’s experience was a home where the theme of the night sky (black with stars moons and planets) was used on the ceilings of every room in the home – not sympathetic to any style but the owners.

When selecting new doors for their property it is our experience that the majority of customers get it about right with a good choice of style and coordinated door and frame colours which blend well with the background of their home whether it be brickwork, stonework or render. There are of course the exceptions to the rule and we have seen quite a lot of them, the option of different frame and door colour has allowed some individuals ideas of what matches to run wild, cast iron hardware on an internal flat door, mismatched shades of doors glazing and frames etc etc etc but it is not our place to judge on individual taste.

With the growth in the number of styles (which run to dozens if not hundreds with some manufacturers options) and colours (a dozen standard and half a dozen premium colours is normal) and the availability as offered by some manufacturers to have their door colour bonded to any RAL colour of their choice, the customers taste rules.

Will a new Composite Door increase the value of your property? The choice and colour could be the decider, but provided that you get these right, everything else about a Composite door is extremely positive and will most definitely be looked upon favourably by any prospective purchaser of your property.

There is very little not to like about Composite Doors –

  • Solidly constructed in Quality Controlled Factory conditions and independently tested (PAS24) to prove their security credentials.
  • Durable and extremely weather resistant – they will not warp twist or swell in extreme weather due to the 2mm GRP cladding each side of the door providing enhanced rigidity.
  • Superior Multi – point locking systems and lock cylinders for extra security.
  • Excellent thermal and sound proofing qualities
  • Minimum maintenance an occasional wipe with a damp cloth rather than bi annual redecoration

All of which are excellent selling points and provided that you get the style and colour right there is no way that the addition of a new Composite front door will not enhance the value of your property.
